Along with the mouth and eyes, the hand is an articulate region of the body that can be said to actually “talk.” As such, it is continually on display, speaking its own language, moving, gesturing with the world. This strength makes the hand a particularly attractive and challenging site for adornment, and there are limitless ways for the maker, the wearer, and the viewer to converse. By interrupting this flux between intrinsic and instrumental values, the sculpted ring produces a de-coordination of the senses.
